Supporting and giving back to the local community of Elyria is an important priority for Dan Reaser, founder and co-host of an outdoor sportsmanship television show, and his family.
On Jan. 6, in support of this core belief, Executive Director Garis Distelhorst received a donation on behalf of the Lorain County Community College Foundation from The Outdoor Option, a nationally broadcasted weekly television show featuring the Reaser family trio of father, son and daughter and their adventures of hunting and fishing around the country in nature’s wildlife.
“We’re making a pledge to the foundation over the next five years of $2,000 a year for a total of $10,000,” said Danny Reaser, 22, co-host of The Outdoor Option along with his father and sister, Shannon, 17.
In turn, Distelhorst has challenged his fellow LCCC Foundation board members to follow the Reaser family’s lead and give back to the community themselves.
“I feel very excited as one of the leading members of our board to have achieved this,” Distelhorst said. “Our goal is to get 100 percent of our members to make a commitment. This is not just a one time thing, it makes a statement for the board to take up the challenge and respond.”
“We’re happy to help and give back to our community,” said Reaser Sr., a board member of the LCCC Foundation and president / CEO of American Hood Systems Inc., in a press release. “Lorain County Community College is the best option for many, and it helps all of us grow by offering experiences that last a lifetime.”
The Outdoor Option can be seen every Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. January through June on the Sportsman Channel. Their website is www.theoutdooroption.com
