LCCC student Bridgette Harvan was featured in a front page article for the New York Times Oct. 16. Harvan is taking classes toward degrees in ultrasound technology and business marketing at LCCC, while working as a server for her family’s business. The article highlighted LCCC and Elyria, noting the shift from thriving careers to minimum wage jobs and LCCC’s role in remaking the region more vibrant through job training and education.
The article included interviews with longtime Elyria residents sharing stories about past prosperous times, and contrasted it with the present situation Harvan and other students face. Dr. Roy Church, president of LCCC, was quoted saying he was determined to ‘help Elyria and the region find the Next Big Thing.’
