The Women’s Volleyball team won against Notre Dame Oct. 6 in three sets. It was a much-needed rally after a loss to Owens Community College Sept. 26.

The game had a great start with strong defense, and the team seemed focused against Notre Dame. The first set began to take a turn when the score was 7-8 with Notre Dame in the lead. The score remained close with the defense held tight. The score was tied at 18-18, and the game looked close to a loss, but LCCC’s team reached victory with a score of 24-19.

The second set yielded a firm lead for LCCC with the score 20-11. The women focused on defense and demonstrated some great kills by spiking the ball. With a comfortable lead, the LCCC team won the second match 25-15.

It came down to the third set; a victory would make it a win for the entire match against Notre Dame. It ended the same way it began with a score of 24-19.

LCCC’s volleyball team had some great accomplishments since last season; not only are they having a tougher schedule but their record is equal or better than last year’s. They are also ranked 13th in the country with a 15-10 record. Some of Pogachar’s goals for this season are to make it to nationals and finish higher than 4th in the division.

The next game will be against Cuyahoga Community College Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. in the LCCC gym.
