Role Players Association hosts tabletop gaming night

By Carolyn LaValey
Staff Writer

Every Tuesday evening from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Role Player’s Association is conducting an open game night, inviting anyone to play tabletop, card, or board games.

Amanda Roos, president of Role Players, said that this is a recent change in the club’s schedule. “We used to have both events in the same day, but they were separated out of necessity. They instated a new rule that said a club couldn’t meet for more than 5 hours at a time,” stated Roos.

Many types of games are played at these sessions, such as Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering card game or Axis and Allies. The group also plays computer games such as World of Warcraft and other role playing games. “Some people are also building characters on their laptops for a table top game we are playing,” said Roos.

Roos also said that the club has been supporting a good number of members. “On Saturdays, six to 20 people usually show up, depending on the games that are being played. On Tuesdays, sometimes up to 10 people show up.”

On Saturdays, the club now meets from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.  On these days the members take part in Live Action Role Play, also called LARP.
