The sweet smell of syrup and butter filled the air of the Spitzer Center on the morning of Sept. 28.
“We kick off the United Way Campaign every year with this pancake breakfast,” said Cindy Kushner, Director of Marketing and Outreach Initiatives.

A small volunteer crew flipped pancakes and fried sausages on griddles right outside the glass doors of the Center as the dreary weather fell around them.
“Right here, I’m toasty,” Marcus Wagner, Spitzer Center employee, said as he smiled. He then took a step away from the griddle. “But over here I’m cold.”
The event included raffles, and donations for United Way were collected from students.
“In the past 10 minutes, I think I saw about a half dozen students donate…it really seems to be picking up,” said Patty Kushner, Administrative Associate of the Entrepreneurship Institute.
